What to Do While You're Waiting for NAS?!

If you're under the current accreditation system:
- Ensure your residency meets all of the current program requirements. The PIF is the best tool to do that.
- Prepare for possible changes to your next site visit - Trace, inverted site visit, new questions.
- Make certain that your program's foundation is solid with a focus on patient safety, QI, supervision, patient handoffs, fatigue management and duty hours.
- Stay connected to sources of news like the NAS website and Partners' education.
If you're slated to move into NAS - the Next Accreditation System:
- Start faculty development on NAS philosophy and known facts.
- Review your data tracking systems to see if they are ready for NAS.
- Begin to assess your readiness for NAS - create an evaluation committee, learn about EPAs, increase GMEC oversight with a focus on patient safety, QI, supervision, patient handoffs, fatigue management and duty hours.
- Stay connected to sources of news like the NAS website and Partners' education.
